February 14, 2018 – (Key West, FL).  Key West Art & Historical Society Celebrates Members Old and New with Celebration at Key West Lighthouse

Key West Art & Historical Society shines the light on its members at Key West’s iconic, 167-year-old Lighthouse and Keeper’s Quarters, one of four historic sites The Society is steward to and one of the island’s most significant and striking historic structures.  Society members and those with an interest in supporting Key West’s arts and history are invited to celebrate sunset and happy hour on Saturday, March 3 from 5:30pm – 8:30pm to enjoy complimentary refreshments, funky music by 3sum, a cash bar, and a breathtaking view at the top of the maritime history beacon’s 88-step circular stairway.

For more than sixty years, Society members have helped promote the cultural heritage of the Florida Keys.  Their annual membership and participation with Key West’s four award-winning museums support the arts and cultural programming offered within them— year-round exhibitions, educational programming, and special events designed to celebrate the unique culture of our community.

“Members are the first to hear about all of our exciting programming and events,” says Membership Coordinator Kim Livingston. “They get to share in the rich culture of our Florida Keys and belong to an organization that is always growing and offering new programs and education to our community.”

While anyone interested can benefit from what the organization offers, members reap much more, including 5:30pm VIP access at exhibit openings with an open bar and delectable nibbles before doors open to the general public at 6:00pm;  free admission to Custom House Museum, Fort East Martello Museum, Key West Lighthouse Museum & Keeper’s Quarters, and Tennessee Williams Museum, with reciprocal privileges at over 100 museums and historic sites in Florida and nationwide through the Time Travelers Program;  advanced, discounted registration in educational programs like ArtCamp!, holiday and professional day workshops and classes for children at the Fort, and The Society’s new Historic Harbor Tours.

Members also enjoy discounts on nearly everything offered, including a 20% discount in each museum store plus additional discounts during special events, like the member shopping day at the Custom House Museum Store during the Society’s annual Holiday Shopping Bazaar.

The Society membership party is free for members and anyone interested in becoming a member, with a suggested $10 donation for non-members.  Please RSVP to klivingston@kwahs.org or call 305-295-6616, ext. 106 or visit kwahs.org.   Your Museums.  Your Community.  It Takes an Island.
