Collections
The Key West Art & Historical Society maintains an extensive permanent collection, some of which is on display at its four museums
Permanent Collection
Our Museums are home to more than 35,000 objects spanning from postcards, photographs, paintings, artifacts, textiles, ordnance and archives. These objects highlight the people, places and events which have shaped the Florida Keys. Through the generous support of donors, the Key West Art & Historical Society’s rich collection continues to expand.
Online Collections Catalogue
The Society is committed to making its collections accessible to the widest possible audience, and this site is an integral part of that process. However, this is a work in progress. We intend to expand the number of objects on our Online Collections Catalogue and to update information currently posted. By the end of 2024 we anticipate having all of our collections available to online visitors.
Researchers, teachers and students of all ages will be able to read the stories and discover the collections of the Works Progress Administration (WPA), Ernest Hemingway’s life in and impact on Key West, Mario Sanchez’s vividly-painted woodcarvings of childhood memories, Henry Flagler’s Overseas Railway, as well as the many industries that have shaped Key West’s prosperity.
