DescriptionThe shell of an Atlantic loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta). This species has been considered threatened since 1978. For centuries the turtle industry was vital to the economy of Key West until 1971 when the Endangered Species Act was passed and limits on the trade of sea turtles began.
