October 21, 2026 – (KEY WEST, FL). The Key West Art & Historical Society invites women artists who live full-time or part-time in Monroe County to submit original work for “From a Woman’s Hand,” a biennial juried exhibition celebrating the breadth, diversity, and creative vision of women artists throughout the Florida Keys. The exhibition will be presented in the Bumpus Gallery at the Key West Museum of Art & History from February 19 through March 28, 2027, with an opening reception on Friday, February 19, from 5 to 8 p.m.
For generations, women artists have helped shape the cultural landscape of the Florida Keys, creating works that document, interpret, and reimagine the world around them. “From a Woman’s Hand” honors this creative legacy by bringing together artists whose work explores a wide range of subjects, perspectives, and artistic approaches. From painting, drawing, and photography to ceramics, sculpture, fiber, printmaking, collage, and mixed media, the exhibition highlights the remarkable variety of artistic expression within the region while providing a platform for both emerging and established artists.
The 2027 exhibition will be juried by four women who play influential roles in the Florida Keys’ arts and cultural community: Dr. Cori Convertito of the Key West Art & Historical Society; Christina Joy of the Key West Art Center; Carole Garcia of the Anne McKee Artists Fund; and Elena Devers of The Studios of Key West. Together, they bring a range of perspectives and professional experience in the region’s arts and cultural organizations to the selection process.
Artists may submit one original artwork, created within the past three years, for consideration. All mediums and themes are welcome, but AI-generated work and artwork previously exhibited at the Key West Museum of Art & History are not eligible. The entry fee is $20 per artist. First Place, Second Place, and Honorable Mention awards will be presented; no monetary prizes will be awarded. In accordance with Society policy, artwork may not be sold during the exhibition.
The submission period opens Wednesday, November 4, 2026, and closes Wednesday, January 6, 2027. Artists will find complete submission guidelines, eligibility requirements, image specifications, and artwork delivery instructions in the exhibition prospectus available through the Society’s website.
