Step into the working waterfront of Key West on a guided walking tour of the historic Key West Bight with curator Cori Convertito from the Key West Art & Historical Society. Discover the stories behind the island’s bustling seaport, where sailors, fishermen, merchants, and the U.S. Navy once shaped the daily rhythm of life in the Southernmost City.
Along the way, you’ll explore the maritime industries that built Key West, from the Mallory Steamship Company and the sponge docks to the shrimp fleet, turtle kraals, and the early naval presence that began when the U.S. Navy established a base here in 1823. The tour also stops at the historic Key West Aquarium, once an important clearinghouse supplying aquariums across the country.
