The Key West Art & Historical Society is hosting a walking tour of historic downtown led by the curator and historian, Cori Convertito. She will explore Key West’s rich naval and architectural history.

Tour Highlights:

Join local historian Dr. Cori Convertito for an immersive walking tour through Bahama Village, one of Key West’s most culturally rich and historically significant neighborhoods.

Explore the deep Afro-Bahamian roots of this vibrant community as you walk the streets where Bahamian immigrants settled in the 19th century. Learn about the legacy of Sandy Cornish, the fight for equality during segregation, the rise of the local cigar industry, and the enduring role of churches, schools, and community centers in shaping daily life.

As you pass iconic landmarks like Petronia Street, Blue Heaven, the former Cornish Memorial AME Zion Church, and the Frederick Douglass Community Center, Dr. Convertito will share stories of resilience, resistance, and cultural pride that continue to define Bahama Village today.

Tour will meet in front of MLK Pool at 10:00 a.m and will finish at Blue Heaven at 11:30 a.m. Please dress appropriately for an outdoor walk. We encourage hats and bringing along a bottle of water.
