Tennessee Williams Poetry Contest

3-December to 8-March from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM

In celebrating Tennessee Williams’ Birthday, we are once again hosting our annual poetry competition that is open to everyone.  The poem must reference ”The Women of Tennessee Williams”, which can be interpreted in an amorphous way, in order to be considered.  Authors may choose to write a poem about one of Williams’ characters, one of  the actresses who played a role in his plays or films, or a member of his family.

All interested writers are invited to submit their poem of 30 lines or less before the March 8, 2020 deadline.

Submission is limited to one poem per person.  The first place winner will be awarded $200 and the second place winner $100. The  winners will be honored and asked to read their poem at the March 26, 2020, Birthday Reception from 5:30-7:00p.m. at the Tennessee Williams Museum, 513 Truman Avenue.

Three published authors will judge the contest.  The judges will receive blind copies of the poems.  With a sufficient number of  outstanding submissions, there is the possibility of publication in an  on-line journal.  By submitting a poem, you acknowledge that the  Key West Art & Historical Society/Tennessee Williams may publish the poem online or in print, giving full credit to the author.
POETRY WRITING CONTEST REGISTRATION AND SUBMISSION DEADLINE: MARCH 8, 2020.
