December 5, 2019 – (Key West, FL).  Perpetual Groove brings new album tour to Fort East Martello

Perpetual Groove, the legendary jam band known for a sound that fuses Southern rock, funk, jazzy improvisation, indie rock, and synth loops, drives its new album tour into Key West on Thursday, December 12 with a Key West Art & Historical Society “Music at Martello” series concert on the grounds of Fort East Martello, 3501 S. Roosevelt Blvd.  Doors open at 6:00pm with opening act The Happy Dog band starting at 7:00, followed by headliners PGroove who will perform music from what is being described as their most engaging and sonically-gratifying album to date.

The Athens, GA-birthed band with the devoted international fan base has been crisscrossing the U.S. since summer, with stops in North Carolina, Virginia, Colorado, Washington, D.C., Tennessee, and New York City’s famed Gramercy Theater, to name just a few, introducing audiences to the tracks of their new self-titled album, which was two years in the making.

The self-titled album that prompted this concert tour represents an apex moment in a nearly two decades long musical evolution, offering seven new songs representing all that life brings—loss, redemption, and hope. Their live music performance promises storytelling, a new sound that band-member Matt McDonald describes as “very different from anything we had done in the past,” and an experience that is fully realized while also offering music from their classic play list, which includes “Save for One,” “Mr. Transistor,” “Three Weeks,” “Teakwood,” and “Walking in Place.”

The evening’s opening act, The Happy Dog band, originated in Philly and eventually transplanted to Key West, where the band-mates have cultivated a faithful, enthusiastic following for their performances which mix original works with covers of The Grateful Dead, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Talking Heads, Bob Marley, Little Feat and others.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for a “backyard casual” setup that will include food vendors and cash bar. Sponsored in part by the State of Florida, Division of Cultural Affairs. General admission is $25; children under 12 admitted free. Limited parking is available; bicycling is encouraged.  Tickets are now on sale at kwahs.org/ticketsYour Museums.  Your Community.  It Takes an Island.
