Historic Seaport Sail on Argo Navis with Mark Hedden
5-March from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM$55.00 - $65.00
Two Hour Historic Harbor Tour with Mark Hedden on the S/V Argo Navis talking about ‘A History of Natural History of Key West’
On Saturday, March 5, launching at 10:00am, writer, photographer, and birder Mark Hedden will offer passengers ‘A History of the Natural History of Key West’ during a two hour seafaring excursion onboard the luxury catamaran Argo Navis.
“It’s easy to think about Key West as sort of a backwater, a really out-of-the-way place that is fun but not all that important to how the natural world works,” says Hedden. “But how we treat birds here affects the lives of birds all over the hemisphere.”
Passengers will enjoy Bloody Marys, mimosas or non-alcoholic beverages along with a variety of pastries as Hedden, who is Executive Director of the Florida Keys Audubon Society, discusses what we know about the Florida Keys’ birdlife, and how we know it, with a look at influential historical figures John James Audubon, Earl H. Greene, Roger Tory Peterson, and Robert Porter Allen.
Space is limited to 50 passengers, so early registration is recommended.
