Join us on Thursday, July 23rd, at 4:30pm for a virtual talk by Ernest Hemingway’s grandson John Hemingway and cocktail historian Phil Greene, author of To Have and Have Another: A Hemingway Cocktail Companion. In their presentation “From Paris to Pamplona with Hemingway”, John and Phil will take us through the life and times of Ernest Hemingway during the 1920’s. From Paris, France, to bullfighting in Pamplona, Spain, Phil will discuss the history of Hemingway’s favorite drinks in this region, showing us step-by-step instructions so that participants can follow along, and partake in the festivities from home. John concludes this talk with a discussion about Spain’s Fiestas de San Fermin, an 8-day festival which takes place which takes place each July. John has been to the Fiesta nine times and has run with the bulls 17 times. His experiences there were the background for his recently published novel Bacchanalia: A Pamplona Story, which he describes as an updated, post-modern take on the Fiesta, nearly one hundred years since the publication of his grandfather’s novel The Sun Also Rises.
