Out of the Woods: A Retrospective of Key West's Wood Artists

March 1 - April 1, 2019

Custom House Museum | Foyer

Out of the Woods: A Retrospective of Key West’s Wood Artists is an exhibit which is part of the Tom Majors Tribute to Wood – a month-long, island-wide celebration of the creative potential of wood, and by extension, a statement of faith that the intersection of humankind and nature can result in objects and experiences filled with beauty and meaning.  It is coordinated by The Studios of Key West with artists and organizations across the island, and made possible by the Tom Majors Endowment for Wood Artists.
Key West Art & Historical Society’s contribution will be a retrospective featuring woodworking artists no longer working in the Key West community.  Artists include Papito Suarez, Frank Balbontin, Mario Sanchez, Duke Rood, Norma Renner, Tony Barcelo and George Garcia.
