Key West is a magnet for literary geniuses, and Shel Silverstein was just that. He was a singer-songwriter, cartoonist, screenwriter, actor and award-winning children’s author. Shel’s goofy, gross and macabre yet always enchanting poetry for children sold more than 14 million books. This camp is designed to immerse the students in the art, wordplay, and music of Shel Silverstein. The students will also create masks inspired by Shel’s illustrations and perform short plays based on his poems and stories. This fun and engaging workshop will encourage budding poets, illustrators, and songwriters to find the missing piece, turn the light on in the attic and find out where the sidewalk ends.
