Professional Day Workshop: Vintage Play Camp at the Oldest House @ Oldest House | Key West | Florida | United States

Are you looking for something interesting for your child to do after the Thanksgiving Feast? Look no further, two of Key West’s historical organizations, the Oldest House and the Key West Art and Historical Society are excited to invite children to a Vintage Play Camp.  Remember the days when the child commanded the toy, rather than the toy commanding the child. Please join us on the lawn of the Oldest House Museum for a Day camp that focuses on the simpler toys of yesteryear.  We will awaken your child’s imagination with fun toys and games that include;

  • Graces
  • Croquet
  • Colorful Clay Marbles
  • Trundling Hoop & Roll
  • Quoits
  • Jump Rope
  • Buzz Saw
  • Cup & Ball
  • Spinning Top
  • Making Goose Quill Pens

Children are active, creative problem solvers that delight in discovery. When they play with toys that allow them to be explorers, they are more likely to learn valuable lessons about how to master their world. Toys are meant to be platforms and props for play, unlike many of the electronic, interactive toys today which engineer or direct the child’s play. Many of the toys and games selected for this camp encourage social interaction, teaching children the art of negotiation, an essential life lesson.

Please pack a lunch and reusable water bottle for your child. Snacks will be provided.
